Sunday, May 16th, 2010

The whole process of plumbing a shower drain for the home is simple and short. It also requires a lot of attention to details to get a professional result using some of the common construction tools and a bit of planning. The first thing you need to do is to map out the drain hole. Using the floor pan, set it into the frame and ensure that the shower is facing the right way then mark the location of the drain.

After this, take the shower pan out of the frame and cut a drain hole in it using the saber. It should be a bit wider than the drain opening. Insert the drain spud by threading it on to the shower pan. Make sure you do not over-tighten it. Set the drain pan and level it. Use a gasket to completely seal space between the PVC riser and the shower spud. The hammer can be used to gently tamp the gasket into place.
